Bill of lading, packing slips — free shipping documents
Moving freight? DocTools.CC Logistics has the two essential shipping documents that every carrier, freight broker and shipper needs — free, unlimited and formatted to the industry standard.
- Bill of Lading — produces both Straight (non-negotiable, consignee-specific) and Order (negotiable, to-the-order-of) Bills of Lading. Includes shipper, consignee, bill-to, freight description with NMFC class, hazmat indicators (UN number, hazard class, packing group), COD amount and carrier signature blocks. Acceptable for LTL, TL and rail shipments in the US. - Packing Slip Generator — itemized packing list with shipper info, recipient, order number, tracking number, line items (SKU, description, qty, weight), special instructions and carrier info. Drop one in every carton and your warehouse will thank you.
Shipping as part of a construction job? Most of our users also need the Lien Waiver Generator, Change Order and Construction Contract — see the full Construction paperwork set.
Both generators are free and unlimited. Generated PDFs are deleted from our servers after 30 minutes. For recurring freight automation (EDI 204/210, carrier integrations, automated rate shopping), consider a full TMS — but for occasional shipments, a well-formatted free BOL will get your load on the road.

Common questions about our generate docs
A Straight BOL names a specific consignee and is non-negotiable — only the named consignee can receive the goods. An Order BOL is negotiable: title can transfer by endorsement, letting banks finance international trade via letters of credit. For most domestic US shipments you want Straight. For export or LC-financed trade you want Order.
Yes — the hazmat section accepts UN number (e.g., UN1993 for flammable liquid n.o.s.), proper shipping name, hazard class (1–9 with sub-divisions), packing group (I/II/III) and emergency contact. The output places the required hazmat markings conspicuously on the BOL as per 49 CFR 172.201.
Our BOL includes all fields required by the NMFC and carrier-preferred format. LTL carriers accept standard BOLs as long as freight class, piece count, weight, shipper/consignee and handling instructions are legible. For proprietary carrier-specific fields (accessorials, liability coverage selections) you may need to add them by hand or use that carrier's online portal instead.
A packing slip is placed inside (or attached to the outside of) a shipment and lists what's in the box — without prices. Customers use it to check receipt; warehouses use it to pick and verify. Highly recommended for any shipment with more than one SKU, and required by many big-box retailers for vendor compliance.
Yes — the BOL generator has a dedicated Collect-on-Delivery section where you can enter COD amount, plus check boxes for cash, company check or personal check acceptance. The carrier collects before releasing the goods.
No — both generators accept as many line items as you need; the PDF flows onto multiple pages automatically. For shipments with 50+ SKUs, a packing slip with a summary plus a detailed attachment is usually cleaner.
